Greetings All ~
I got confused for a bit...
During a practice this last week, a question presented itself:
Can you keep your heart open to what is coming towards you without surrendering the experience of the present moment by becoming too future-oriented?
Wow! On initial examination, it felt uncomfortably contradictory.
~ Aren't the present moment and the future in juxtaposition?
~ Aren't they two separate entities?
~ Where exactly does "the future" start?
~ Do the present and the future actually ever meet?
Help me, Einstein!
Flipping through my Soul's files, I came upon the note about Intuition versus Ego. Ego concerns itself with a final outcome; a future target or goal if you will. Intuition simply reveals the next step in the moment.
Sometimes the Ego will have to surrender the original goal to the altered path Intuition has indicated. Sometimes earthly commitments need to be completed before an intuitive action can be taken.
When an insistent Ego rules the roost and Intuition isn't honored, unhappiness becomes the watchword of life. Moving along one's path with Intuition as the vehicle, makes the journey joyful.
It doesn't mean that responsibilities are shirked or that the heavy lifting of Karma is ignored. It means we implement BOTH. Ego is the tool for the future. Intuition is the tool for the present.
So, do the present and the future actually ever meet?
Yes! All the time.
Here is a pranayam-based meditation that coordinates the brain for insight. Though simple, it untangles complications.
When you don't know what to do, do this!
